Herbert and Rist has been serving the community of Southampton since 1933. Located on jobs lane in the heart of Southampton Village, our fine wine and liquor shop encompasses bottles from every corner of the world. Our selections change regularly, but our commitment to customer service remains the same. We take pride in our ability to provide our customers with outstanding knowledge, first hand experience, and competitive pricing.

This is a standard we have have upheld for 90 years, and will continue to do so for all the years to come. With over one-hundred and ten years of knowledge combined, we are the staff to come see for all your wine and spirit needs.

John Rist is the heart and soul of Herbert and Rist. He first started at the shop over fifty-four years ago as a delivery boy. He worked many years alongside his father, and our former owner, Jack Rist. Johnny's wine knowledge is extraordinary, and his work ethic is unparalleled. He is here every single day of the week, handling our ordering, waiting on customers, and keeping the shop in tip-top shape.

Nothing is more important to him than his family. When Johnny isn't working you can find him at the beach, surfing with his grandkids and grilling meals at the oceanside. He is also the artist responsible for the magnificent fish hanging all over our shop! He has beautiful portraits on display in our front window as well, and is currently being showcased at the Southampton Art Gallery.

Michelle Reilly is another one of our part owners and has become, "the face of the franchise". If you know her, you love her almost as much as we do! She has been our go to person for tastings, special orders, thoughtful gifts, and drink recommendations for over twenty-five years. Her energy is contagious as she works with a smile every day.

When she is not on the sales floor helping customers and keeping the place looking great, Michelle is out and about. She spends her free time with nieces and nephews who adore her, playing tennis, and trying new restaurants around town.

Last, but most certainly not least, we have John Noonan. John has been at the store for over thirty-five years and is another part owner. He got a job with us when he was attending Southampton College and has been here ever since! John is an extremely knowledgeable and integral part of our business. His dedicated years to Herbert and Rist keep us running smoothly. John does a lot behind the scenes, but he's happy to come up front for any questions you have. Need a hard to find Whiskey? Want a specific vintage of Bordeaux? Want to sell your wine cellar? John is the man to talk to. When he isn't at the store you can find John on the golf course.
